A new rental platform called the "eBay of renting" could be bad news for New Zealand tenants. Rentberry is in a global expansion phase, launching in Australia over the next few months. Its chief executive said it was not always the highest bid that got a property - sometimes landlords preferred a renter with a good credit history or strong references. He said Rentberry would push up rents in the short term because landlords would have a better understand of potential tenants' ability or willingness to pay.
