Zespri reflects on record season at annual meetingTOM LEE/FAIRFAX NZ Last season's kiwifruit crop saw record per hectare returns for growers supplying Zespri. Zespri has looked back to reflect on a "remarkable" 2016-17 season at its annual meeting in Tauranga, with a 19 per cent lift in global sales from the previous season to $2.26 billion on the back of record high crop yields. Chairman Peter McBride told 500 grower shareholders that last season had been a record for the company. The 2016-17 season produced large volumes of green kiwifruit with up to 93 million trays going to the market. Green returns were projected to fall to $52,038/ha but lifted from $4.36 per tray $5.84/tray.
