Advocate Zainul Abedin, chairman of the Supreme Court Lawyers’ Association, was granted preemptive bail in the ongoing case in connection to the attack on a police van to retrieve BNP party members. The arrest order for the association’s General Secretary Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon was also rescinded. Meanwhile, a bench comprised of justices Naima Haider and Zafar Ahmed asked law enforcement agencies to refrain from harassing or arresting Mahboob Uddin Khokon for any of the three charges filed against him. However, they also instructed Khokon to appeal for bail for his offences within the next 30 days. Supreme Court Lawyers’ Association Deputy Chairman Mohammad Waziullah testified for Zainul, while Barristers Moudud Ahmed, Sakib Mahboob, and Sanjida Siddiqui testified for Khokon.
