The issues surrounding the affiliation of colleges with Dhaka University (DU), which triggered unrest on campus and on the streets, are unlikely to be resolved anytime soon. Affiliation of seven colleges with DU was heralded as a pilot project in November 2016. At that time, DU had 33 colleges, including these seven colleges, under its wing. The situation took a turn for the worse as DU students took to the streets demanding that the institution sever ties with the affiliated colleges. According to some DU insiders, NU has begun cooperating with the DU authorities after the tenure of AAMS Arefin Siddique as VC ended.
