ZEC commends high voter turnout

0Lovemore Ranga MataireThe Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has applauded Zimbabweans for peaceful conduct and for voting in huge numbers as voting closed on Monday night around 7pm. ZEC chairperson Justice Chigumba said there was high voter turnout in most provinces of Masvingo, Midlands and Harare which all recorded above 65 percent turn out. Justice Chigumba said the commission was still receiving figures of the total voter turn out in other seven provinces of Mashonaland Central, East, Mashonaland West, Manicaland, Bulawayo, Matabeleland North and Matabeleland South. The ZEC chairperson said counting of votes was continuing through out the night but could not say when the commission will start announcing the results. Justice Chigumba expressed regret over an incident in which a female voter collapsed and died at a polling station in Bulima in Matabeleland South Province.
