Youths might dislodge veteran politicians in Mombasa posts

Ouma enjoys the support of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Nyali MP Hezron Awiti and Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar. Majority of Mombasa MP and senator hopefuls are barely 35 years old, an indication that the youth are preparing to take over from veteran politicians, analysts say. On Saturday, 32-year-old Mark Ouma, one of the fresh bloods, launched his bid for Nyali MP, promising to bring radical changes should he win. They include Ouma, Mohamed Ali and Said Abdalla who want to run for Nyali MP, and Lewa Tendai and Sadaf Deen who want to vie for Mombasa senator. Though Awiti is categorical that he has not yet endorsed Ouma, political analyst Hassan Mwakimako, of Pwani University, said the support Ouma enjoys from Musyoka and Omar is enough to propel him to victory.
