The extensive network of bike tracks on Dump Hill, a forested section on Ohau Rd, Twizel, was the brainchild of 16-year-old twins Kyle and Ryan Nelson. “Me and my brother found this place and thought we could build some trails out there because it's a good spot, there’s not many hills in Twizel,” Kyle said. “There hasn’t really been a proper mountainbike place in Twizel and this fills the gap,” he said. “Trees are getting taken down in Twizel because they are wilding pines, so they spread and grow which isn’t great,” Kyle said. Several other submitters referenced the hard work of the youth involved in the trails and the asset they have created.
