Young man shot and wounded overnight in drug deal gone wrong in Montreal

MONTREAL — Police say a young man was shot and wounded overnight in a drug deal gone wrong in Montreal’s Sud-Ouest borough. Police received a call at around 12:30 a.m. reporting a shooting on Coleraine Street. The 19-year-old victim had sought refuge in a convenience store nearby, and was conscious when first responders brought him to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim told police there had been a conflict involving two armed individuals at the corner of Coleraine and Charlevoix streets in the Pointe-Saint-Charles neighbourhood. Montreal police spokeswoman Caroline Chevrefils says investigators found a pair of firearms as well as drugs on the road, with forensic technicians on hand to analyze the scene.
