XFL roundup: Jones leads Defenders past Dragons


Quarterback Cardale Jones threw for 291 yards and two touchdowns to power the D.C. Defenders to a 31-19 victory over the visiting Seattle Dragons on Saturday in the first-ever XFL game. Jones threw touchdowns of 39 yards to tight end Khari Lee and 31 yards to wideout Rashad Ross, the latter on a fourth-and-6 play, to take control in the third quarter. Bradley Sylve intercepted Dragons quarterback Brandon Silvers and returned it 69 yards for the sealing touchdown in the fourth quarter. Silvers finished with 217 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions. Walker finished 23 of 39, tossing scores of 50 yards to Cam Phillips, 16 yards to James Butler, 39 yards to Sam Mobley and 4 yards to Khalil Lewis.
