JAKARTA:The Indonesian military has retrieved the debris of an army helicopter which went missing last year in the country's easternmost province of Papua, a military officer said on Monday (Feb 10). Commander of the Cendrawasih Military Command overseeing the province Maj-Gen Herman Asaribab said that he has seen the wreckage of the army chopper from the air during a flight on Monday. The remaining parts of the aircraft were seen at a hill located on Mount Mandala in Pengunungan Bintang regency's district of Oksob. "During the flight with a helicopter this morning, I saw the debris from a 12,500-feet altitude," he said. The search for the missing helicopter has resumed since days ago following a report that a local resident discovered the ill-fated aircraft.
