Schools told to prepare for hot weather

PETALING JAYA: Schools and educational institutions under the Education Ministry have been directed to get ready to cope with the hot weather when schools reopen after the Term 1 holidays next week. The institutions must also ensure adequate supply of clean drinking water, encourage students to bring their own water, and remind them to hydrate themselves frequently. Students living in dormitories must be provided with drinking water if the situation warrants it. The ministry said institutions must work closely with nearby clinics and hospitals in emergencies due to the adverse weather. “All educational institutions under the ministry must be aware of the current hot weather conditions in their areas and comply with the guidelines,” the ministry said in a statement yesterday.
