Super setsThis man is doing a super set of lunges and shoulder presses, working two different muscle groups at the same time. Often, to build strength, super sets pair two exercises that work opposing muscle groups (an antagonist super set). Depending on the intensity of your workout, you may need to rest longer between super sets than you would with straight sets. Giant sets are an extension of super sets and consist of doing four or more exercises back to back with little or no break in between. In contrast, you don’t see a lot of football players, sprinters or other athletes utilising drop sets in their training regime as drop sets are not conducive to strength, power or speed gains.
