Woodie's owner increases profit guidance after a jump in revenue


Woodie's owner Grafton Group has increased its operating profit guidance for continuing businesses after jump in revenue in the first half of this year. Earlier this month the company said it is selling its traditional merchanting business in the UK for £520m (€606m). Revenue was 18pc higher compared to same period in 2019, as consumers continued to spend on DIY. The strong revenue growth trends in continuing operations, that developed in March and April were sustained in May and June led by Woodie’s in Ireland and Selco in the UK, according to a trading update. Meanwhile, revenue in the discontinued operations increased by 47.4pc to £522.9m on the first half of 2020 and was up by 0.3pc on the first half of 2019.
