Women-centric sci-fi There’s something about having a completely female science/military team enter an ecosystem so vibrantly coloured that it makes one wonder if it's sci-fi written to bring in the ladies. “Annihilation” is directed by Alex Garland, who is himself no stranger to sci-fi, having written science-fiction screenplays such as “Sunshine’ and “Ex Machina,” which he also directed. Watching the movie, one gets a distinct feeling that for a change, this is sci-fi targeted atwomen. You don’t see women-centric sci-fi very often.
