The incident took place on Tuesday night, at Kundarpara in Shibpur upazila of the district. According to the case, the woman, a separated mother of one, works at a candle factory in Sadar upazila. On Tuesday, Akhter asked the woman out, promising they would get married. At one point, the trio took the woman to a paddy field in Kundarpara and raped her. When contacted, Shibpur Model police station OC Abul Kalam said the survivor had been sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for a medical examination on Thursday.
