A woman is dead after a two-alarm fire broke out in a Scarborough apartment Monday morning. Victor Kwong told said the fire and the death are being treated as suspicious and the homicide unit is investigating. Toronto Fire Services responded to reports of a fire on the 18th floor of an apartment at Bay Mills Boulevard, near Birchmount Road and Sheppard Avenue East, just after 4 a.m. The victim was initially taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries before being pronounced dead.
