Kadamtali Police Station OC Abdul Jalil said they arrested the woman, Maria Sultana, on Thursday afternoon in response to calls by her neighbours who alleged she would often torture the girl. Referring to her statement, OC Jalil said Maria became very angry when the underage house help mistakenly put more rice to boil than needed. The woman splashed the hot water on the girl at the time, he said. The girl from Kishoreganj’s Bhairab took the job of house help at their house around six months ago. The OC said a case has been started against Maria under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
