Traffic piled up on the GST Road near the airport in Chennai. Protests were held at 28 places, including Saidapet, Alandur and near the Indian Institute of Technology - Madras (IIT-M). The commuters in the MTC buses were the worst hit as the buses moved at a snail’s pace. Several commuters were stranded in bus stands near the head post office, TVS and Simpson. As police personnel made commuters leave the bus stands, many, including women, had to walk to their offices.
