Stalin has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to announce a special Emergency Credit Line Guarantee Scheme (ECLGS) for the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the apparel sector immediately. He wrote a letter to PM and requested to help garment manufacturers tide over the current crisis. CM noted that the exporting units and their supplier MSMEs were staring at a severe financial crisis in the ensuing months due to low demand. Lakhs of jobs, particularly for rural women, who form a significant chunk of the workforce were in danger. Tiruppur district is one of the largest knitwear exporting clusters catering to the United States, the United Kingdom and to the European markets, CM said.
