KUALA LUMPUR: Wisma Putra is studying the reasons behind the “special summit” which United States President Donald Trump is hosting. Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said several matters had to be taken into consideration before the government could decide whether to attend the special summit or otherwise. “Once we receive further details on the reasons behind the special summit, we will look at Malaysia’s role in the forum. “I believe that Wisma Putra is looking into it,” he said after the opening of the Malaysia SDG Summit 2019 here yesterday. A majority of regional leaders did not attend the Asean-US Summit, except for Thailand Prime Minister Prayuth Chan O Cha, Laos Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and Vietnam Prime Minister Nguyuen Xuan Phuc, and sent their foreign ministers instead for the meeting with representatives from the US.
