A winter storm sweeping through Montreal caused difficult road conditions and service disruptions on the city's light-rail network during Thursday's morning commute. Snowfall warnings are in effect for a number of areas, including Montreal and the Laurentians. The Deux-Montagnes branch of the REM was disrupted for much of the morning, with trains not running between Bois-Franc and Ville-de-Mont-Royal stations. "We are seeing moisture-related issues during weather events such as freezing rain, which can lead to ice buildup on the power lines," Néron said. "We are working to deploy new equipment and procedures in the coming weeks to try to mitigate this type of impact.
