Dozens of people gathered at The Forks in Winnipeg on Saturday to protest genetically-modified organisms (GMO) and agricultural business giant, Monsanto. Even for some who were not involved in Saturday's rally — or any movement to protest genetically-modified organisms at all — the news regarding genetically-modified salmon sales in Canada is concerning. She runs No GMO Manitoba, a group dedicated to raising awareness about genetically-modified organisms and their effect on those who consume them. The protest comes days after the first genetically-modified food animal — salmon — was approved for sale in Canada.
