The Winnipeg Jets have re-signed defenceman Julian Melchiori on a two-year contract. Melchiori, 24, has been in the Jets organization for five seasons and was signed on a two-way contract worth an average of $625,000 per season. Last season, the left-handed player played 11 games with Winnipeg after starting the season with the Manitoba Moose, where he played 62 games, the Jets said in a news release. The Jets also signed draft pick goaltender Jamie Phillips to a two-year entry-level NHL contract with an average of $675,000 per season. In the 2014-15 season he was also nominated for the Mike Richter Award, honouring outstanding goalies in NCAA men's hockey.
