'Widespread' vomiting and diarrhoea gastro outbreak in Havelock North123RFAn outbreak of vomiting and diarrhoea is affecting Havelock North, in Hawke's Bay. All Havelock North residents have been advised to boil water until further notice to kill the gastro bug. The illness was widespread in Havelock North, which meant a food source was unlikely and the cause of the illness was probably water borne. Until the infection type was identified, the recommendation was to boil water for one minute before drinking. The Institute of Environmental Science and Research (ESR) was working to identify the source of the illness and any contaminants.
