OPINION: As we have talked about in previous columns, investing in startups is not a game for the weak of heart. Despite all the hard work and best intentions of any startup, the stats don’t lie regarding the roller coaster nature of startup investment. I have often looked on with envy at countries that offer tax relief for investors taking a chance on early stage investments. Some countries even allow investors to minimise capital gains tax on gains if they reinvest money earned back into other startups. If you’re considering it, make sure you do your research, but also don’t be scared to jump in.
