Signing top scorer Mitch Marner to a long-term contract won’t be easy for the Maple Leafs. That’s why, for Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas, the off-season tasks are beyond massive; why coming back with the same team, or one that’s a little worse, simply won’t do. And Marner, even though he’s a restricted free agent, figures to hold more leverage than Nylander and Matthews ever did. There’s been talk for months that Marner could be the target of offer sheets from rival clubs come July 1.
