Consumers need a lot of personalized data to get a clear picture of their EV-related energy costs. Electric utilities have a better understanding of consumers’ personalized energy data than any other company. In Auckland, New Zealand, the electricity retailer Mercury has partnered with a car rental company to offer an electric car subscription service. Utility customers have shown that they will respond favorably when given more control over the energy they use.
