While whistleblowers, at least in the corporate world, receive considerable protection under US law, New Zealand's protections are relatively weak. The documents revealed the extraordinary compromises the Palestinian Authority was willing to make in order for a two-state solution. Although Assange's "journalism" is not the basis for his arrest, his activities as a publisher deserve closer scrutiny.
