Artificial intelligence, specifically in how it can quickly analyze the human voice, is at the core of Dialpad acquiring TalkIQ in a deal announced on Wednesday. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but a source with knowledge of the transaction says that Dialpad paid a little under $50 million for TalkIQ. With TalkIQ, Walker hopes that his vision of the future of voice in the office will gain several key differentiators, including real-time transcription, automated call summaries and sentiment analysis. At Dialpad, Walker points to a new long-term contract with Uber and the company’s growth with WeWork as signs that it’s still growing fast. He argues that with TalkIQ, Dialpad will be able to secure more enterprise-size deals in the future, too.
