It would seem that Democrats should want to embrace this dedicated Kansas-bred, Indian-American with his encyclopedic knowledge of telecom law and a career of public service. Indeed more than 50 did by verbally confirming him as a Commissioner to the FCC in 2012. Why would Democrats put politics above policy, even when it makes their constituents worse off? He set up a working group to help design an Office of Economics and Data, which will incorporate economics and data analysis into the Commission’s work. If Democrats wanted to make lasting Open Internet rules, they should join the ranks of some 50 nations which enacted rules through the will of people in their legislatures.
