This is the moment a two-year-old stray dog that fell 20ft down a sewer was pulled to safety after 48 hours stuck in the darkness. The distressed animal was found by a young boy stuck in a well surrounded by thick vegetation in Nashik, Maharashtra in India on November 24. Wasting no time, the team of rescuers led by Abhijit Mahale, lower the animal control pole to get a grip on the dog. They struggle to get the wire around the dog, but eventually manage to get a grip of its leg and hoist the distressed animal up through the well shaft. The dog immediately collapses on the ground from exhaustion and hunger, and the rescuers quickly throw some biscuits its way.
