OPINION: I was born in Wellington in 1965, the same year that Argentina's rugby team was baptised as Los Pumas when a South African journalist misinterpreted the Jaguar on the Argentine teams' jersey. When I said I was from New Zealand the first response was always "All Blacks, los mejores de mundo!" At the 2007 World Cup, Argentina put themselves firmly on the map for those still doubting their international rugby credentials. Los Pumas beat hosts France twice including in the third place playoff with Augustin Pichot, Juan Martin Hernandez, the Contepomi twins, and ultimate warrior Mario Ledesma leading from the front. (Congratulations Argentina!, You beat the All Blacks!, You made history!, GOOOO PUUMMMAAASSSSS!")
