Filmmaker Hansal Mehta spoke about nepotism by sharing a series of tweets on his Twitter page. Hansal's tweet read as "Hiding under the guise of opposing nepotism does not make you a lesser bully. Mehta also spoke about his son Jay Mehta's career stating, "He will make films not because I will produce them. To which Alia Bhatt's mother and actor Soni Razdan replied, "The expectation that people have because of whose son or daughter you are is much more. Hansal concluded by replying to Soni which read as "The debate has been narrowed down to target certain people.
