The emerging coronavirus cluster in Aberdeen will be the first major test of Scotland’s contact tracing operation and potentially another platform for Nicola Sturgeon to stand apart from England. Scotland has the third highest rate of coronavirus deaths in Europe, but Scotland’s first minister has been largely insulated from criticism because England has fared even worse. The contact tracing operation has got off to a shaky start. Public Health Scotland has yet to publish any comprehensive data on Test and Protect as “the quality of the data was not suitable for public release due to a technical error in the processing of the data”.
