I HAVE a real problem with this so-called “Red October” plot to bring down the Duterte administration: I don’t think the Armed Forces actually has enough intelligence to go after the shadowy people behind this alleged plot, assuming that it does exist. What I’d like to see the AFP doing is rounding up actual persons involved in the alleged plot — before they even announce that they’ve uncovered it. Understand, as well, that Duterte said the basis for his revealing the plot is not even the AFP’s intelligence-gathering efforts. All the military had to do was to dream up a name for the plot. At the very least, I think Teodoro would have come up with a better name for the plot than “Red October,” had he accepted the job as defense secretary.
