Wellingtonians are being warned to expect a weekend of delays while a major central city thoroughfare remains closed. Jervois Quay closed on Thursday night, and will not reopen until 6am on Tuesday morning, to allow Wellington Water to repair a broken stormwater pipe. Wellington City Council spokesperson, Richard MacLean, said Friday had gone pretty much as they had expected, with heavy traffic throughout the city centre. Wellington Water was unable to be reached for comment for an update, but a Facebook post on Friday afternoon suggested the crews were making good progress. The Jervois Quay closure doesn’t appear to have made that any worse.”KEVIN STENT/Stuff Signs warned commuters against using Jervois Quay.
