Wellington's public transport is going greener, with the capital’s bus fleet to be entirely electric within seven years. The commitment was part of the Wellington Regional Public Transport Plan 2021-31, which the council endorsed on Thursday. Adopting a 100 per cent electric bus fleet would reduce Wellington’s carbon emissions by 13,200 tonnes per year. At the same meeting on Thursday, the regional council also unveiled the Wellington Regional Public Transport Plan for the next decade.
