Well-wishers donate foodstuff, sanitisersMary Wanjiru of Tetu with Ephantus Thuku of Adonai Foundation who donated masks and foodstuff [Kibata Kihu, Standard]Well-wishers have come to the aid of the needy as the country grapples with effects of the coronavirus pandemic.In central, NGOs and individuals have been donating foodstuff and sanitary products to residents in rural dwellings as well as those living in informal settlements. Yesterday, residents of Gititu, Ithekahuno and Tetu areas received foodstuff, sanitisers and masks from Thuku Adonai Foundation. Separately, Nyeri Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) called on individuals to complement government efforts and to donate food items to address hunger and starvation in rural households. Chairperson of the volunteers David Munene said they were alarmed at the growing number of households going hungry or living on a meal a day.
