Weather warnings issued as powerful winds whip across Alberta

Powerful winds are whipping across the province today, prompting a series of wind warnings in central and southern Alberta. Environment Canada has issued wind warnings Thursday for communities across the eastern parts of the province stretching from the southern edge of Alberta to the Saskatchewan border. The alerts are in effect across a large swath of the province stretching from Vegreville in the north and Medicine Hat in the south. In much of southern Saskatchewan, the winds will peak at 100 km/h later Thursday. Winds will strengthen later Thursday morning and persist through the day, the weather agency said.
