'We need 20,000MW of electricity'

Nigeria needs at least 20,000MW of electricity to drive its industrial, economic and social activities, says a leading power generation company in the West African country. Transcorp Power Limited’s chief executive officer Christopher Ezeafulukwe, emphasised the need for “conscious and disciplined investment efforts… in the country” to address its power challenges. Ezeafulukwe said Nigeria, a country of more than 200 million people, should not be grappling still with driving its economic and social activities with a “meagre” 5,000MW of electricity. He said significant improvement in generation, transmission and distribution of electricity was “invaluable towards finding lasting solution to the headache of inadequate power supply in the country.”Have you read?
