On 19 September 1995, The New York Times and The Washington Post published a 35,000-word essay known as ‘The Unabomber Manifesto’. The essay was published on the advice of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the US justice department in order to prevent more such attacks. In his essay, Kaczynski described the industrial revolution as a disaster for the human race. The industrial revolution has indeed created problems such as climate change and has introduced a degree of uncertainty through technology-driven developments—robots are substituting human workers, for instance. But it has also made life better for the poorest people across the world.
