As 2023 winds to a close, the editorial board of NorthJersey.com, The Record and the USA TODAY Network is reflecting on the positions we took in editorials over the last 12 months. We were vocal about the need for intervention in the long-troubled Paterson Police Department in the wake of the fatal shooting of anti-violence activist Najee Seabrooks. We stood up against antisemitism and in favor of LGBTQ+ rights. Here's a selection of what we believe are our editorials from 2023:March 10, 2023: The fatal shooting of Najee Seabrooks presented just the latest straining challenge for the Paterson Police Department. As we have said, we will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with those who advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, women's rights and civil rights.
