Waze to be integrated with Google Assistant - Tech News

Solo Waze users will soon be able to drive safer, as Google Assistant integration aims to allow drivers to speak rather than type commands into the driving navigation app. Google Assistant director Austin Chang said the voice assistant's navigation features has been expanded beyond Google Maps to ensure those using Waze can depend on Google Assistant to stay connected, informed and minimise distractions while on the go. He added that Waze's features – like reporting traffic, pinpointing a pothole or checking for alternate routes – can also be accessed using voice commands like “hey Google, report traffic” or “hey Google, avoid tolls”. Chang said voice commands in the car help minimise distractions so users can focus on the road, and the Google team looked forward to continue making users' driving experience better with help from the Google Assistant. The support has been rolled out in the United States for Android phones in English, though no timeline has been set for the global market.
