Following the serious injury of a suspect, several Calgary cops are now being investigated by the province’s police watchdog. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team has been called in for a second look at the July 30 incident, after dashboard cam footage from a police car was discovered. Police say the suspect received several serious injuries during the ensuing arrest, which was at least partly captured by the video. I believe it took several weeks before we were aware that the video existedMeanwhile, as the investigation moves forward, police will review whether the relieved officers will continue being paid. Cook couldn’t give much detail as to the arrested man’s injuries, except to say they’re significant enough to warrant investigating under the Police Act.
