Millions of trees on the way for ravaged B.C. forests, according to new climate plan


It's titled the Forest Carbon Initiative. Betts says the Forest Carbon Initiative represents the largest commitment the industry has seen out of the government in decades. Members of the forestry sector are hopeful that the Climate Action Plan will make forests more resilient to forest fires once damaged areas are replanted. Mark Jaccard, director of the Energy and Materials Research Group at SFU, says planting trees "doesn't cut it." Harrison says he's happy to see reforestation taking a front seat in the carbon plan.
