The dental building, pergola and concrete pad will stay in place and the grounds will be grassed over. There will be community consultation later this year on what to do with the site. Otago Peninsula Community Board chairman Paul Pope said the demolition was a bittersweet moment for many in the Tomahawk community but the building had become too derelict to save. A meeting will be held at the Ocean Grove Recreation Hall next Thursday at 5.30pm, where a list of community proposals for the redevelopment of the hall will be discussed.
