Asante Kotoko had an early chance to take control of the contest, but captain Samba O’Neil missed from the penalty spot. Aduana proved more composed in the shootout, converting their kicks to secure qualification to the quarterfinals after a 4-2 victory on penalties. The Dormaa-based club will now face Techiman Liberty in the quarterfinal stage of the competition. For Asante Kotoko, the defeat increases the pressure on head coach Karim Zito.
