Iceland left Euro 2016 with heads held high. Fans from Ireland, Northern Ireland and Wales lit up Euro 2016 with their good humour and full-throated support for their teams. Iceland went home having proved that a great deal can be done with very little. Their lusty rendition of the song “Ferdalok” before the defeat to France and again during it sent shivers down the spine. The fairytale of the team representing the island nation of 330,000 people, invading Europe with gutsy football and fabulous fans, was the talk of Euro 2016 for nearly three weeks, especially after sending England home in the round of 16.
