If Jason Kenney jumps to Alberta politics, he’ll be giving up chance to influence electoral reform

The important thing is that, whatever Kenney decides to do, the committee will carry on, with or without him. We can definitely accept that Kenney himself might feel that way. There’s no House rule against an MP keeping his seat and any existing memberships while on the provincial leadership campaign trail, but it’s not a particularly effective strategy for winning support on the ground back home. Is the Official Opposition doomed to see its triumvirate reduced to a mere duo? First things first: Hill denizens are, for the most part, willing to accept the possibility that Alberta — or, more accurately, the divided Alberta right – may well have an urgent, pressing need for the kind of bold, unifying leadership that only Jason Kenney can provide.
