Washington Street business owners want to carve out identity for the districtBusinesses in Washington Street are following in the footsteps of their North Main Street neighbours and the Victorian Quarter in working to carve out an individual identity for the street with the formation of Washington dC (district of Cork). UCC student Mona Alqarni and Sarah Bennett of Costigans, are all smiles at the switching on of the Christmas lights on Washington Street. “There was a great festival atmosphere and well done to all the traders and businesses on Washington Street,” he said. Robyn Pinkham and Johnny Lingwood, both from Chambers Bar, enjoying the switching on of the Christmas lights on Washington Street. Cork City Council is working in partnership with the traders to support them in anyway they can.”
